On Monday May 7th Judith Diment MBE, Dean of the Rotary Representatives to the UN and International Agencies was the guest speaker at the inaugural meeting of the newly chartered Rotary Club Sheikh Zayed Eco Cairo. The club was chartered by Mohamed Delawar Rotary Representative to the Arab League and inspired by the Rotary delegation to COP28. Judith spoke about the history of Rotary and the United Nations and the work of the Rotary Representatives and the delegations to COP26, COP27 and COP28.

 

The new club will focus its activities on sustainable environmental projects including cleaning the plastic waste from the River Nile.

 

The new club has 22 members and the meeting was attended by 20 other Rotarians from District 2541 including Dr Amal El Sisi, the Programme Manager for the $2 million Program of Scale on Cervical Cancer in Egypt. Judith was pleased to meet the Programs of Scale team the next day.
